SEM Cooling System
ABCO Subsea designed a solution to maintain safe operating temperatures of a Subsea Electronics Module (SEM) during surface BOP testing operations. The cover slips over the SEM dome and contains free flowing water. An air-energized gasket is located at the bottom of the system and inlets and outlets provide for water circulation. The cover reduces operating temperatures of the SEM to acceptably safe levels.
This system was developed by ABCO Subsea in 2009 at the request of a customer operating the Gulf of Mexico. SEM Cooling Systems are now in use in use on more than a dozen drilling platforms around the world.
